Which animals carry rabies on Koh Samui?

What should you do right after a bite?

Try to remember the animal and where it happened. Was it a stray or someone’s pet? Can the owner show vaccine papers? This helps the doctor plan your care. But never wait to catch the animal. How do doctors decide what you need? (WHO categories)

Doctors use three simple categories from the World Health Organization. They look at what the animal did to your skin. That needs a wash and the rabies vaccine. Category III means a bite that broke the skin, deep scratches, or a lick on broken skin. That is the highest risk.

For Category III, you need the wash, the vaccine, and a medicine called rabies immunoglobulin. It gives fast protection while your body builds its own. What is the rabies vaccine schedule?
